DIY: Emergency Chocolate

We didn't make this one ourselves, but we love the idea! My wife received this at a church function:

(If the font weren't Comic Sans it would be perfect. I know, I'm strange.)

DIY: Bed Curtains

What do you do when you have a few children, a couple of bunk beds, some spare time, and an overactive imagination? Make fun bed curtains!

This was a quick-and-fun afternoon project that only required a bit of fabric, tension rods, and a few minutes at the sewing machine.

But how will they ever sleep now that their beds are so exciting?!

DIY: Bathroom Vanity Renovation

Our house was built in the late 70's, and the original fixtures and styles testify to that fact. We think the blue tiles in the bathroom and matching sink, toilet, and cupboards are cute (they're all yellow in the other bathroom), but things were starting to fall apart.

Here's a single image showing a condensed view of this fun project.

NOTE: It was fun because of the emotional rollercoaster of discovering gross mold, to replacing all the drywall, removing the soffit/bulkhead, to finally enjoying OUR bathroom vanity that we designed and built.

DIY: Back Patio

We love our house and beautiful backyard in the paradise of south Florida; however, our aging deck was tired from years of exposure to the elements. We thought it would be fun to replace it! Here's our fun project:

Here's the deck and backyard before we moved in.

This shows the decking and that it was getting worn.

Don't get us wrong: We LOVED the deck! Look at these pretty flowers.

And this friendly lizard.

But it had to go. Those concrete footings were HEAVY! Luckily the bulk trash truck took them all away.

I keep pretty busy, so I say I don't have much time to exercise, but these DIY projects can be considered exercise. Right?

Grating the ground after removing the deck and footings.

Almost done!

Looking pretty good.

A little landscaping and we'll call it done! (for now)

DIY: Art Gallery

We're an arts-and-crafts kind of family. When we decorate we like to include homemade artwork from every member of the family. This picture shows our "Art Gallery," as the children call it. It features glow-in-the-dark painted picture frames, artwork by the children (and the adults), and even a few crafts thrown in for good measure!
